White Elephant, known for its beautiful properties in Nantucket and Palm Beach, gears up to bring its hospitality to Aspen. Opening June 15, White Elephant Aspen is located on the corner of Main Street, making it the perfect homebase for exploring all Aspen has to offer.
“Expanding to Aspen marks an exciting new chapter for White Elephant Resorts. Our vision has always been to create hotels that capture the spirit of the destination. With its rich cultural heritage and dynamic year-round energy, Aspen provides the ideal backdrop for bringing our legacy of thoughtful hospitality to the American West. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience our signature warmth and style in the mountains,” said Douglass E. Karp, president, New England Development, owner of White Elephant Resorts.
The alpine-chic hotel features 54 rooms and honors the brand’s boutique sensibility while also incorporating Aspen’s deep cultural and artistic legacy. Contemporary interiors feature deep charcoal and saddle tones with leather furnishings, moody lighting, stone surfaces, and vintage skis and poles.
Guestrooms and suites boast tile flooring, blonde woods, rustic stone mosaic, hand-painted lamp shades, resin coffee tables, leather headboards and more. Some even feature a private outdoor terrace or balcony. Guests can expect Byredo products and Dyson hairdryers in the bathroom, and a nightly turndown service featuring Colorado-made Pollinator Chocolate. White Elephant Aspen has also partnered with Petite Plume to offer silk PJs, robes, night gowns and sleep masks with a unique chalet print, available to purchase to make bedtime even more luxurious.
At the heart of White Elephant Aspen’s décor is its art. Common spaces and guestrooms feature more than 125 original works of art, curated by art advisor Emily Santangelo, who has been with White Elephant since 2017. Guests can go on a self-guided art tour through the collection, featuring pieces by Alex Katz, Robert Peterson, Orit Fuchs and Doodle Boy. The lobby will also feature a rotating collection of photos of Maroon Bells by Bob Tabor.
Fans of the other White Elephant properties will be excited to see LoLa 41° will grace White Elephant Aspen. The restaurant is known for seafood and sushi specialties inspired by destinations along the 41 degree longitude parallel, from Japan to Nantucket.
