With travel returning to the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America, Marriott International plans to open 22 hotels and all-inclusive resorts this year in 12 markets. The hotel brand opened two new JW Marriott properties this month alone: JW Marriott Hotel São Paolo and JW Marriott Guadalajara.
Slated to open in the middle of this year, Marriott Barranquilla Hotel will grace this lively city in Colombia, overlooking the delta of the Magdalena River and Atlantic Ocean. The hotel will offer a sophisticated, contemporary environment. With high-touch amenities and a special emphasis on providing local experiences through Colombia’s rich food and beverages, the hotel will feature a coffee ritual at Meira Café and a rum-tasting bar at Amira Restaurant.
In Riviera Maya, Mexico, The Riviera Maya EDITION will soon lie on the beachfront near the end of 2022. As one of the most anticipated hotel openings, the property’s opening marks EDITION Hotels’ first property in Mexico. Boasting 180 guestrooms and suites, the hotel will sit within the luxurious Kanai development. The Riviera Maya EDITION will also feature six food and beverage outlets, including a pool bar and beach club, signature restaurant and destination spa.
Also opening toward the end of 2022, The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya will also make its debut in the popular region of Mexico. Surrounded by mangroves and pristine waters, this property will showcase one-of-a-kind architecture inspired by Maya astronomy. Its organic design connected by semicircle buildings, allowing for coast views from every angle and terraces for observation and stargazing. The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya will feature 124 guestrooms and suites, and 32 villas with private pools. The hotel will boast four food and beverage locations, two 18-hole golf courses, pools facing the sea and an exclusive St. Regis Spa.
Opening soon, The Westin Porto Galinhas in Brazil will serve as the first all-inclusive resort in Brazil and South America, and will sit on one of Brazil’s most beautiful beaches, featuring a seaside leisure structure for guests to enjoy. From a unique spa to engaging resort activities to spacious guestrooms and suites, each detail and amenity will be on full display.
These hotels and resorts mark only a few of those set to open across the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America this year. Other hotels and resorts scheduled to open in 2022 include Aloft San Pedro Sula Honduras; Panama Marriott Hotel; AC Hotel Monterrey, Nuevo Leon; Armar House, All-Inclusive, a W Hotel; and AC Hotel by Marriott San Luis Potosi.
