Viking recently announced two new river cruise voyages setting sail in 2030. Guests will have the rare opportunity to cruise along the Rhine or Danube; explore some of Europe’s most historic destinations; and experience the world-renowned Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany.
Performed once-a-decade for the past 400 years, this deep-rooted tradition is included in both itineraries, allowing for a meaningful cultural experience for all voyagers.
Oberammergau, Innsbruck & the Rhine
Travelers can choose a 13-day excursion from Amsterdam to Munich, sailing the Middle Rhine (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and immersing themselves in culinary traditions of the Alsace region. With a stop in Innsbruck, Oberammergau and an overnight stay in Munich to conclude the journey, guests can expect a jam-packed itinerary for the almost two-week adventure.
Central Europe is calling, and so is the Danube River. Travelers can choose to set sail on this 12-day voyage, exploring Bavaria and Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and setting for The Sound of Music. In addition to preferred seating at the 43rd Passion Play, voyagers can experience the historic and beautiful landscapes of Germany, Austria and Hungary while sailing the Danube.
Departing May–September 2030, North American travelers can begin booking their trip with Viking’s Summer Sale, through July 31. With this sale, travelers can enjoy reduced fares; a $25 deposit for all itineraries; and up to free international airfare on select all-inclusive river, ocean and expedition itineraries.
