United announced the opening of a kennel facility at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) for the care of pets traveling via United’s PetSafe service. Located inside the carrier’s new cargo facility in Chicago, the kennel provides accommodations and amenities for animals and features 28 individual, temperature-controlled enclosures. Caretakers provide walking services, as well as grooming and bathing on request. The airline also operates a fleet of specially built PetSafe vans used exclusively to transport pets to and from its Chicago flights as quickly and comfortably as possible. “We have an industry-leading pet travel program and this new kennel facility allows us to further extend our best-in-class service to the animals traveling through Chicago,” said Robbie Anderson, United’s vice president of cargo. “The comfort and care provided by our dedicated PetSafe team offers our customers peace of mind whether they are shipping their pets or traveling with them.” The Chicago kennel is the carrier’s third facility that supports the PetSafe service. It also operates similar facilities in Houston (IAH) and Newark (EWR).
