Travel Leaders Group Reveals Americans’ Travel Confidence

Oct 28, 2015
Daily

Travel agency network Travel Leaders Group recently released the results of a nationwide survey of travel agents regarding travel confidence and the threat of terrorism when making booking decisions. While terrorism is still a major issue, findings from the survey indicate concerns about terrorism aren’t stopping travelers from booking a trip.

Canada is the country with the most favorable traveler confidence, with 96.1 percent of travel agents indicating their clients have little-to-no concern about travel to Canada. Of bookings to Canada, 99.6 percent of travelers encounter no cancelations or delays related to travel confidence. The United States is just slightly behind Canada, with 93.2 percent having little-to-no concern. Other regions with favorable traveler confidence include New Zealand (90.3 percent), Australia (90 percent) the South Pacific excluding New Zealand and Australia (88.3 percent) and Northern Europe (74.2 percent).

Regions with the least favorable traveler confidence include the Middle East (12.2 percent), Asia excluding India and Southeast Asia (35 percent), Africa (36.6 percent) and Russia (36.7 percent).

“First and foremost, safety is our top priority for our clients, and our travel agents provide the facts so travelers can make informed decisions for themselves about their travels,” said Ninan Chacko, CEO, Travel Leaders Group. “Our travel agents also recognize that each individual has a different comfort level with regard to travel — some truly intrepid consumers will travel to the ends of the earth for amazingly authentic experiences, others will opt for mainstream, popular destinations and some feel most comfortable exploring our great nation.”

Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort

Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. By the time you reach Sooke, about 45 minutes from the provincial capital, city blocks have surrendered to forests, rocky shoreline, sheltered coves and long views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
