Several companies, including Airbus, Delta Air Lines, OneWeb and Sprint, announced the formation of the Seamless Air Alliance, marking a new era of innovation for airlines when it comes to wireless internet connectivity.
By empowering member mobile operators to extend services into airline cabins, the Alliance allows them to continuously provide customers with high-speed connectivity throughout the entire flight via satellite technology. The motion rids flights of the frustrating lag in service and reduces costs for everyone involved.
“What if the best internet you ever experienced was in the air? Keeping this goal in mind, together, we will enable an affordable and frictionless experience for passengers everywhere,” said Greg Wyler, founder and executive chairman, OneWeb. “With the launch of our first production satellites set for later this year, we’re one step closer to bridging the global Digital Divide on land and in the air.”
The alliance currently seeks additional members — an attractive offer, as the initiative greatly reduces costs and hurdles associated with the acquisition, installation and operation of internet services. Plus, it’s sure to make customers happier.
Delta Air Lines is happy to welcome travelers back while implementing extra precautions to ensure a safe, clean environment for passengers. After listening to customers' main concerns about returning to flying, Delta Air Lines came up with layers of protection.
