The Standard Hotels brand is to debut its first Texas property with The Standard, Austin, slated to open spring 2027 as a bold reimagining of beloved South Congress Hotel. The new hotel will mark the brand’s first U.S. opening in more than a decade.
“South Congress has always been a place where Austin’s past and future meet,” said Stan Nix, managing partner, Timberline Real Estate Partners, who will collaborate with Hyatt on the hotel. “Bringing The Standard brand here feels like the natural next step – a commitment to the street’s legacy and an opportunity to create something globally relevant, socially vibrant and built for the long term.”
The property will feature social wellness experiences, a rooftop pool, and world-class restaurants and bars. Guestrooms will bring a global sensibility to life with local craftsmanship. The hotel seeks to let guests move seamlessly between cafés, dining spaces, guest quarters and outdoor gathering spaces animated by music, conversations, a considered cocktail program and pool.
South Congress Hotel will close for renovations this summer.
