The St. Regis San Francisco recently announced the debut of The Spa at The St. Regis San Francisco, designed by San Francisco-based TEF Design in collaboration with Italy-based architect Gio Pagani.

“Our work on the pool and now the spa has been an exciting design journey,” said Paul Cooper, principal, TEF Design. “We’ve relished the challenge of connecting the aesthetic language of the pool, inspired by the amazing view of SFMOMA and its circular atrium, with the new spa, while establishing a distinct identity of its own. Both projects have always been driven by the desire to heighten the St. Regis experience by crafting a serene oasis rooted in wellness and place.”

Occupying around 9,000 square feet on the hotel’s fifth and sixth floors, the spa boasts cedar saunas, eucalyptus steam rooms, a Himalayan Salt Room, and separate men’s and women’s relaxation lounges and dressing rooms.

The circular architectural motifs were inspired by neighboring San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and continue the visual language introduced in the hotel’s reimagined indoor pool. Other design features include warm wood paneling, bespoke millwork, textured wallcoverings in rich earth tones, and soft lighting details.

At the heart of the experience are the rituals unique to St. Regis Spas worldwide, beginning with a welcome at the Celebration Bar, where guests may enjoy Champagne, fresh-pressed juice, sparkling water, tea and effervescent cocktails. The signature Scent Bar allows guests to select a preferred fragrance that will become a subtle sensory thread throughout the treatment. Services begin with individualized opening and realigning closing rituals.

The spa offers a curated menu of facials, massages and body treatments. Signature treatments include Caroline’s Collection, inspired by Caroline Astor, who shaped the founding spirit of St. Regis. With some of the most elevated experiences, the collection includes the Rose Hydra-Lifting Facial, combining Hungarian Moor Mud, a rose-scented gold mask and hyaluronic acid, and the Secrets of the Rose Massage, using shea butter and the collection’s signature rose fragrance. The spa’s dedicated Wellness Collection helps guests realign and reenergize with treatments like Circadian Ritual, aligned with the time of the day and blending massage techniques and essential oils; Vitality Ritual with invigorating dry brushing, a tension-relieving massage and pneumatic compression; and the Stillness Ritual’s guided breathing techniques and intentional touch. Treatments are administered on state-of-the-art Lemi Portofino Evo tables.

The new spa is also suited for shared experiences and provides an elegant private setting for couples, wedding parties and special gatherings.
