It’s official: The Ritz-Carlton is coming to Savannah, Georgia, set to grace the historic Johnson Square. The hotel will occupy storied buildings dating back to 1911 within the financial district, providing convenience for visitors and locals.

The property will span 168 guestrooms and suites, a signature restaurant and bar, lobby bar and café, meeting and event spaces, rooftop pool with a lounge and terrace, spa, 24/7 wellness and fitness center, valet parking, and more. The spa and wellness center will span 5,000 square feet, while meeting space will cover more than 5,000 square feet.

The office-to-hotel building rises 15 stories and will also include modernized elevators, upgraded utilities, and improved operational areas like the linen chute and trash room. Cleveland Construction, Inc. leads the construction management of the new hotel, stating in its official release, “Cleveland Construction is committed to preserving the property’s historic charm while delivering modern luxury, sustainability and compliance with current standards.”

Martin Brudnizki Design Studio will oversee the hotel’s design.

The announcement follows recent zoning limits in Savannah, which seek to restrict high-density hotels and prohibit demolition of historic structures in order to preserve the historic city.

Marriott is also currently working on the first The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Indianapolis.
