Curaçao and Sint Maarten recently introduced a new currency: the Caribbean guilder, with five banknotes and seven coins all holding the same value as the previous currency, the Netherlands Antillean guilder. With a theme of World Under the Sea, the new currency symbolizes the unity of the two islands. Curaçao is currently the most Googled international summer travel destination.

The front of the currency features the vibrant marine life of the islands, with the opposite side depicting key historical and cultural landmarks. The coins boast images of King Willem-Alexander, marine life and the signature orange blossom of both islands. They are issued in two series — one marked Curaçao and the other Sint Maarten — but coins from both can be used in either country.
Travelers can use ANG until June 30, but all change will be given in Caribbean guilder. In 2010, when the Netherlands Antilles were dissolved, the two islands became autonomous countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and agreed to form a monetary union with a shared central bank and a single currency. Any remaining ANG can be exchanged at the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten through March 31, 2055.
