The Adolphus Hotel, an Autograph Collection Hotel from Marriott, is a gateway to a bygone era of grandeur intertwined with modern sophistication. Built in 1912 and the first luxury hotel in Dallas, the castle-inspired beauty is now on the National Register of Historic Places, having entertained presidents, royalty and celebrities. The Beaux-Arts architecture of The Adolphus contains grand public spaces of polished woods gleaming under imposing chandeliers downstairs, while 407 rooms and suites are spacious and contemporary, following a 2018 remodel that’s helping The Adolphus remain one of the city’s top stays more than a century after opening.

Accommodations at The Adolphus introduce modern amenities to the oversized spaces characteristic of historic hotels, far larger than average. Deluxe rooms range from 400 to 500 square feet, with executive suites extending up to 650 square feet and offering spacious sitting areas and large closets. For outdoor space, consider the private patios of the terrace suites, or spring for ultimate indulgence among the hotel’s collection of unique stunners, including the presidential suite and Hollywood Suite. Beyond superior space, all accommodations at The Adolphus include king-sized beds with pillowtop mattresses and fine linens, rainfall showers, plush robes, and Red Flower bath amenities.
The six dining concepts across The Adolphus can easily cover you throughout the full day with quality bites and beverages in immersive spaces. Ease into Dallas mornings with a cappuccino and buttery croissant from Otto’s Coffee & Fine Foods, a Viennese-inspired café using locally roasted Full City Rooster beans. If you’re still at the hotel at lunch, consider updated comfort plates at City Hall Bistro, like grilled chicken paillard with avocado chipotle aioli or an open-face crab cake sandwich with Texas remoulade. Don’t skip quirky and casual Rodeo Bar for a happy hour drink before getting ready for dinner at least once, but the glamour and sophistication of The French Room & Bar may be a better fit if you’re entertaining colleagues or clients for a pre-dinner drink. Sushi by Scratch serves an intimate omakase dining experience with a curated 17-course tasting menu, ideal for impressive entertaining or a celebratory meal within the hotel.

In warmer weather, rooftop Pool Adolphus is a serene oasis in the middle of downtown, complete with private cabanas and loungers. In colder months, the space becomes a Champagne-fueled winter village of cozy blankets, hot cocktails and all things après-ski. Inside, Spa Adolphus spans 5,000 square feet and provides treatments like deep-tissue massages and rejuvenating facials using premium products. Hotel guests also have access to the well-equipped, 24/7 fitness center. Among the more unique amenities adding serious personality to the property, Barber Shop provides expert haircuts and shaves in a chic space that blends vintage charm with modern sophistication — pop in for a peek even if you’re not due for a trim yet.

Just outside The Adolphus, AT&T Discovery District is a lively community space. With sculptures, a massive Media Wall digital installation, outdoor seating to relax or enjoy live performances and regular visits from local food trucks, there’s always something to explore just outside the hotel’s door. Other nearby attractions include Dallas Museum of Art, Winspear Opera House, Dealey Plaza and The Sixth Floor Museum. Serious shoppers should pop into the Neiman Marcus flagship store, an easy stroll away. The eclectic and colorful Bishop Arts District offers a full day of intrigue for a variety of tastes, from indie bookstores to kitschy souvenir shops with boutiques and bars between.
