Thai tourism organizations join the fight to end single-use plastics. The effort is spearheaded by a partnership between Thai Hotels Association and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. Overall, the campaign will encourage THA member hotels and independent hotels to reduce their plastic output. The campaign also aims to motivate tour companies to support organisations making sustainable environmental choices.
“Thai hotels can play an important role both in raising awareness among their guests and reducing plastic waste in daily hotel operations,” said Yuthasak Supasorn, governor, TAT.
The joint effort invokes 12 preliminary guidelines for properties, including reducing plastic packaging for bathroom amenities, reducing plastic bag usage in hotel rooms, not using plastic straws and much more.
