Sofitel London St. James officially debuted two reimagined flagship suites, Suite 70 and The Opera Suite, completing the hotel’s multiphase transformation by Pierre-Yves Rochon. Both suites celebrate Sofitel’s heritage as a bridge between French art de vivre and local culture.

Suite 70 is a direct tribute to the creative and cultural energy of the 1970s. The color palette draws on iconic 70s colors, like orange, deep green, black, brown and white. Bespoke pieces like bedside tables that extend into dressing tables, carpets and rugs by Edition 169, and bathroom elements made in collaboration with Devon & Devon anchor the space.

At the heart of Suite 70 is Experience Bar, created as a concert trunk lined with vinyl records, wall artwork and accessories inspired by concert posters and album covers from the 1970s, a vintage-style record player, and a saxophone.

Suite amenities include a dining table for up to four guests, sleep menu, separate bathtub and rain shower, bathrobe and slippers, guest bathroom, Diptyque bathroom amenities, exclusive Sofitel MyBed, and more.

The Opera Suite takes a more elegant and softened interpretation of the era, overlooking Waterloo Palace and incorporating hues of nude, pale pink, taupe, camel and ivory. Furniture includes the timeless Tulip chair by Knoll, as well as armchairs by Pierre Paulin, a pale pink suede headboard, sculptural in-room bar, and suspended library and mirror.

The Opera Suite provides a master bedroom, dining room for up to 12 guests, open-plan kitchen, separate guest toilet, sleep menu, separate bathtub and rain shower, bathrobe and slippers, super king-sized Sofitel MyBed, Diptyque bathroom amenities, and more.

Each suite also boasts a bespoke art collection curated by VISTO, showcasing works by emerging and established artists who echo London during the decade.
