Six Senses Hotels Resorts and Spas announced the brand’s debut in the United States with the opening of Six Sense New York. The luxury hotel is slated to open in 2019 and is being developed in New York City between the popular High Line and Hudson River.

The project site is on 10th Avenue and encompasses the entire block between 17th and 18th Streets in the city’s vibrant and artsy Chelsea neighborhood. The project is named The Eleventh and features two soaring towers designed by award-winning architecture and design group Bjarke Ingles Group. The inspiration for the towers come from the city’s classic Modernist structures, cultural institutions and traditional skyscraper form with their rotating appearance. The stone and metal facades will add a dynamic twist to a neighborhood known for its contemporary architecture.

The towers are about 300 and 400 feet tall, making them taller than surrounding buildings, creating beautiful views of the High Line and the city’s skylines. Six Senses is creating its first 5-star hotel with approximately 240 condominium residences and high-end retail shipping. Accommodations begin at 400 square feet in order to deliver a high level of personal service and lifestyle quality.

“This project is a fascinating and exciting contrast to the typical Six Senses locations where we operate resorts in settings with azure waters, UNESCO heritage listings and lush rainforests,” said Neil Jacobs, chief executive officer, Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. “Six Senses New York will have the same touch-points and DNA, with some creative adaption of course, but with no compromises on our commitment to community, wellness, sustainability and design. We are delighted to be in partnership with HFZ on this fabulous urban development.”

The project is being meticulously planned to attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification. Guest rooms will be designed and appointed in compliance with the brand’s dedication to sustainability for the environment.

The hotel will offer a layered approach to wellness, as spas are an integral part of the brand. Wellness treatments will incorporate a mix of science and human awareness, crafted around the individual. The hotel will offer two restaurants which will showcase the brand’s approach to wellness by serving fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced produce and ingredients. Plans are in the works to create a unique private members club within the hotel and an innovative meeting space.
