The Shangri-La Group’s first project in Zhoushan, China, is set to open its doors this month.

Shangri-La Zhoushan is a 28-guestroom hotel tasked with piloting the brand’s new smart technology and culinary experiences. The property will also house a standalone restaurant showcasing some of the region’s most-loved flavors.

Zhoushan is an archipelago in Zhejiang province and is well-known for its spectacular natural views, including mountains, valleys and beaches.

Although Zhoushan is about 175 miles south of Shanghai and 150 miles east of Hangzhou, the city has plenty to offer potential visitors. Sitting in Zhoushan’s city center, the hotel is just a 25-minute drive from Mount Putuo, a famous and sacred Buddhist site in the region.

The property’s big draw in terms of guestrooms comes in the property’s new smart technology. The technology allows for seamless, mobile check-ins; screen projection capabilities; wireless phone chargers; and voice-controlled lighting and climate control. The rooms also have built-in amenity dispensers in bathrooms and water refill systems.

For business travelers, the property has a fully fleshed-out meeting facility. The hotel has about 17,000 square feet of event space and offers high-end catering services. The space is perfect for business events, but can also accommodate social gatherings and other events just as easily.
