In June 2026, Guadalajara is one of 16 cities across Mexico, Canada and the United States selected as a host city for the FIFA World Cup 26. Located in Zapopan, a suburb of Guadalajara, the stunning Estadio Guadalajara stadium will host four Group Stage matches on June 11, 18, 23 and 26, 2026. During football season, the stadium is host to C.D. Guadalajara, the city’s largest football team.

Notably, Mexico will play in the June 18 match. The stadium, opened in 2010, has a capacity of 48,000 spectators. The stadium also has a history of hosting major football events, and served as one of the main venues for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011. The venue also hosted the Pan-American Games the same year. With the World Cup bringing many football fans to the Mexican state of Jalisco, it will not be Guadalajara’s only huge event that year. It seems one of the world’s largest travel trade shows will mov to Guadalajara in November 2026, bringing in thousands of business travelers to attend ITB Americas in Guadalajara for the first time, with thousands of travel industry visitors from the Americas and Caribbean.

From Canada to Argentina, ITB Americas is the only travel trade show covering North, Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean and all segments of the travel industry, from Adventure & Responsible Tourism to Business Travel and Travel Technology.

Geographically, Guadalajara is an ideal location, economically strong and with a first-class tourism infrastructure. As Mexico’s second-largest city, Guadalajara and the state of Jalisco  offers excellent connectivity and the country’s most state-of-the-art exhibition and convention center. The accompanying ITB Americas Conference will feature high-profile speakers addressing the latest industry trends, while specific networking formats will focus on buying and sales. With this new event, ITB is expanding its brand, which in past years has successfully held worldwide trade shows in Shanghai, Singapore and Mumbai.

The state of Jalisco will organize the venue for the next five years. It is estimated 2026 ITB Americas will generate hotel revenue of more than $900,000, and tourism revenue of $11.9 million for the state of Jalisco. With this designation as host of the world’s most important tourism fair, Jalisco is reaffirmed as a first-choice destination for world-class events, and a leader in the development of the tourism sector at the national and international level.
