On June 4, Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia tunes up to celebrate 50 years of outstanding performances, with more than 50 shows presented as part of America250 Celebrations. Making this newest season especially memorable, Highmark Mann is also introducing its newly reimagined, 21-acre campus. Changes include a spacious new Plaza and Welcome Center and Satell Centennial Wall East light-and-sound digital wall, where historical and cultural videos will be exhibited.

There’s also the new Music Hall of Fame, with archival displays and an interactive touch-screen jukebox allowing visitors to delve into the center’s legendary past performances and fascinating history. Further changes include a new, permanent Skyline Stage; renovated backstage spaces; a new ticket office; more restrooms; augmented concessions; and a new gift shop.

“We have so much to celebrate here in Philadelphia, and we are thrilled to add to the festivities with a season of spectacular performances that continues a tradition passed down through generations of Philadelphians,” said Catherine M. Cahill, president and CEO, Highmark Mann.

“Our current campus opened to great fanfare as America celebrated its bicentennial. Now, fifty years later, we are thrilled to reintroduce audiences — and welcome new ones — to Highmark Mann, recreated for a new generation.”

The June 4 season launch features a world premiere of Philadelphia’s own BalletX performing The Four Seasons Reimagined under the direction of composer and electronic music innovator Dan Deacon. Choreographers Morgann Runacre-Temple, Penny Saunders, Jamar Roberts and Trey McIntyre will each bring their own fresh interpretation of a “season” from this work.

Along with a robust schedule of world-class performances, visitors can look forward to Downstage @ Highmark Mann, which will include Jazz Under the Stars curated by Philadelphia artist-in-residence Gerald Veasley; and Movies @ Highmark Mann, with classics such as Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert. Films that make up the Summer Picnic Series will be displayed on three giant screens, and concertgoers are invited to pack their own picnic feast to enjoy during select performances. Other planned events include The Young People’s Concert Series, Mural Arts Philadelphia, Voices of Hope and Albert M. Greenfield All City Orchestra Summer Academy.

Parkhotel Oberhausen Review

Oberhausen, on the Ruhr River at the outskirts of Essen, is not merely a city transformed — it is wholly repurposed. In the late 19th and 20th centuries, its main industries were coal mining, iron and steel production, and manufacturing. Today, it is defined by its intentional evolutionary path toward a green, 21st-century city tailored for a healthier and more outdoorsy standard of living. What makes it a particularly compelling choice for a meeting or conference destination is it doesn’t hide its past. Instead, it shows how a municipality can use what’s there to move toward a more environmentally sound future.

Malta’s Sun-Soaked Harbors, Soulful Cuisine Captivate the Young and Young at Heart

Malta cast its spell before I even set foot on shore. From the deck of my cruise ship, I watched Valletta’s fortified limestone walls emerge from the sea, glowing gold against the blue. But no matter how you get there, Malta beguiles once you arrive. And beyond its Baroque architecture and complex history, this archipelago between Sicily and the North African coast has a lot to offer business travelers and their companions, both during working hours and downtime.
