The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel, a San Francisco landmark since 1915, highlighted the city’s history by releasing its list of 250 Things to Do in San Francisco. This new amenity complements the hotel’s monthly speaker series, Making History Fun Again, celebrating the city’s legendary past through storytelling, fascinating personalities and one-of-a-kind local history.

The hotel previously asked its guests, staff and concierge team to share what it means to experience the city today and used those answers to create a list of ways to explore the past and present of the city.

While most of the nation will celebrate USA250 on the East Coast, where the United States was founded in 1776, San Francisco is having a celebration of its own that unfolded on a parallel timeline. In September 1776, the Presidio was found on the western edge of the continent and anchored what would be a city created by migration, reinvention and cultural exchange long before California joined the Union.
