Hotel Goldener Hirsch, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Salzburg completed its full-scale renovation project last week. The renovations breathe new life into the city’s most storied hotel, a landmark since the 1400s.

Renovations included restorations of 70 guestrooms and suites, as well as common areas, which now showcase the hotel’s 612-year-old antiques collection. The new styling highlights the property’s original country house origins, with subtle, modern touches added throughout. Solid wood flooring contrasts with plush, locally produced fabrics. Guest bathrooms are large, with deep marble soaking tubs and bronze and porcelain fittings. A color palette of cornflower blue and antique white pleases the eye.

On-site dining experiences include Restaurant Goldener Hirsch, already a Salzburg culinary must-try, though now outfitted with an updated kitchen and reception area, as well as an updated menu with more modern Austrian fare. The Goldener Hirsch Bar was similarly updated with contemporary bar furniture and countertops. Herzl remains as a second eatery, a local favorite with an informal, cozy atmosphere.
