Rosewood Hotel Group voiced a fresh dedication to people and planet with its new, comprehensive Rosewood Impact operations plan, highlighted by Rosewood Empowers and Rosewood Sustains.

The goal of Rosewood Empowers is to uplift communities by sourcing talent from underserved and underrepresented groups and easing the hurdles for employment — along with investing in education and strengthening local economies via partnerships and local hiring. Examples of this goal in practice include the relationship between Rosewood Mayakoba and non-profit Centro Educativo K’iin Beh school in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Through efforts of Rosewood Empowers, the school was able to reopen, and hotel employees and community members directly benefit through scholarships and access to education for employees’ children.

Rosewood Sustains seeks to affect positive environmental sustainability. This includes eliminating single-use plastics across the company portfolio as quickly as can be managed, reducing energy use and water consumption by 25 percent by the year 2025, diverting 70 percent of waste from landfills and incinerators by 2025, achieving 50 percent carbon-neutral status by 2035, and attaining complete carbon-neutral status by 2040.

To that end, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort located on Hawai’i Island has been designed for LEED Gold Certification, and will be completely powered by solar energy. At Rosewood Baha Mar in The Bahamas, the crucial marine environment off Nassau’s Cable Beach is being preserved through the property’s partnership with The Bahamas Reef Environmental Education Foundation. This includes educating locals and visitors about coral reef protection, engaging guests in beach clean-up efforts, and adopting coral reef fragments for planting in area waters.
