ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: Over the past several years I’ve traveled to the east coast of Florida so often, it’s begun to feel like a second home. This time around my travels took me to Beach House Fort Lauderdale, a Hilton Resort. With several beach-front resorts to choose from along Las Olas Beach, I’m always surprised at how each destination differentiates itself. In this case, Beach House is an all-suites resort with a prime location close to everything.
It was easy to find, and as I dropped my car with the valet, the bellman escorted me inside to the lobby. A small snafu in my reservation required a bit of adjustment (I was accidentally booked to arrive the next day in their system). I showed the front desk agent my confirmation number and arrival date, and I was quickly accommodated without much trouble — a great reminder that confirmation numbers are always essential when traveling.
GUEST QUARTERS: My ocean-facing suite on the 11th floor was, essentially, a fully furnished residential apartment. The suite had a primary bath and a guest bath, both with glass showers and rainfall showerheads. The primary bath was a full five-piece bathroom with a jetted tub and ocean views.
In addition to a flat-screen TV, the king-sized bedroom offered a small workstation and a large closet, both ideal for my short stay. The living room had a large sofa, armchair, another flat-screen TV, coffee table and ottoman. The living area easily opened to a full kitchen complete with granite countertops, full-sized refrigerator, stove and dishwasher.
As lovely as the suite was, the layout and furnishings still proved secondary to the wrap-around balcony facing the pool and exquisite views of the Atlantic Ocean. I enjoyed my hot tea on the balcony one morning, watching early risers walk along the ocean and leave their footprints in the sand. It was perhaps the largest balcony I’ve ever experienced in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area.
SERVICES/AMENITIES: Although I had no time for extra luxuries on this trip, Beach House offers a full-service spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and bicycle rentals. With five dining options on site, one can choose from relaxed casual dining with firepits, late-night cocktails on the rooftop, or even Mediterranean-style dishes near the pool. Should you wish to venture out, numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities exist all along A1A, easily within walking distance.
After a long day with clients, I sat at the bar, ordered a beverage and enjoyed dinner at S3 (Sun, Surf & Sand). I highly recommend the sushi rolls and lo mein noodle wok with crispy chicken, along with warm donuts with three dipping sauces for dessert. All items were fresh and delicious.
TOP TAKEAWAYS:
- Floor-to-ceiling windows give an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean throughout these residential-style, ocean-view suites.
- With more than 10,000 square feet of event space and 375 guestrooms, Beach House can also host small or large events.
- Relax at the outdoor pool on the sixth-floor terrace.
