Who knew heaven was just a five-minute ferry journey from central Manhattan? On Governor’s Island, spa questers can escape the city and embrace a day of wellness and relaxation at QC New York’s Italian-themed Spa of Wonders. This July, guests can enjoy the property’s new, 15,000-square-foot addition, which will include Casa QC — a bistro with seating for 142 and a menu of Italian-inspired treats. Menu items include a selection of artisanal gelatos and Taralli crackers with aged pecorino cheese. The new eatery will supplement the existing Flora Café.
There’s plenty more for spa-goers to look forward to:
In addition to the existing year-round pools and saunas, the expansion includes renovated themed rooms and more than 10 wellness experiences. Among new options for a wellness escape are waterfalls, sensory saunas, a lavender room, salt room, ice chamber and a relaxation zone fitted with waterbeds. Five-hour Escape Entrance or Sunset Entrance (from 5 to 10 p.m.) offers include access to the pools, saunas, steam baths and relaxation areas, along with robes, sandals, towels, showers, and body and skincare products. Plan ahead to book massages.
“Our philosophy of inviting guests to slow down and get lost has made our locations in Italy and France a massive success, and it’s been rewarding to see New Yorkers … wholeheartedly embrace this approach,” said Andrea Quadrio Curzio, CEO and co-founder, QC Spa of Wonders. “We’re excited to enhance the QC New York experience with the opening of our second building, which will provide even more opportunities for guests to unwind, escape and recharge. We aren’t interested in being a flash in the pan, so that means focusing on what the City needs: a luxuriously manicured backyard worth coming back to time and again — a place to relax where you get to make memories and rediscover joy.”
Stay tuned for more good news: A third building is planned to open in spring of 2025.
Meanwhile, catch your boat from Battery Maritime Building located at 10 South St. Open daily year-round, the spa can be found on Andes Road, a short journey up the hill from Soissons Landing between Castle Williams and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Arts Center. There’s also a ferry option from Brooklyn.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa is an award-winning resort on Coconut Road in Bonita Springs, Florida, on the Gulf Coast between Naples and Fort Myers. The property, with 26 acres of tropical landscaping, multiple water slides and numerous dining venues, is a beautiful resort. Last month, I brought my 13-year-old grandson to the property for two days of water-sliding in balmy mid-December weather.
