Pulitzer Amsterdam, a historic hotel stretching through 25 canal house buildings interconnected between two major canals, debuts the final stage of a full refurbishment in August. Phase one of the extensive renovation was completed in February, and included a new restaurant, Jansz; Pulitzer’s Bar; and 80 redesigned guestrooms and suites on the Keizersgracht canal side of the hotel. The final phase will join the Keizersgracht and Prisengracht canals and unveil 145 new guestrooms and suites, a transformed lobby and a marble garden café. The Pulitzer Garden will transform into a park-like hideaway, featuring a giant swing surrounded by hand-carved wooden rocking horses. At the grand opening Aug. 15, the hotel will boast 225 guestrooms and suites reflecting the history of the canal houses coupled with contemporary Dutch design. “It’s incredible to see how our vision for Pulitzer Amsterdam has come to life. We have woven the multiple Pulitzer stories into the fabric of the new design to celebrate and evoke the grandeur and the heritage of these Golden Age canal houses,” said Jacu Strauss, creative director, Pulitzer Amsterdam. “Our future lies in our past and we want to stay true to our roots and celebrate the history and heritage of the canal houses whilst being both luxurious and glamorous. The hotel’s hidden touches and individuality are what makes Pulitzer Amsterdam unique and each room offers ongoing surprises for both new and returning guests.” No two rooms in the hotel are the same, with four distinctive guestroom categories and three suite categories, including the romantic Pulitzer’s Suite. Four Collector’s Suites offer private street entrances with stunning canal views. The designs are inspired by elaborate characters who may have lived in the buildings throughout the years. Jansz offers an easy-going Dutch attitude with a menu helmed by executive chef Cassidy Hallman. Pulitzer’s Bar is a chic hotel bar with an intimate atmosphere. Pulitzer Amsterdam is located nearby iconic Amsterdam attractions, including Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and The Anne Frank House. Nightly rates start at $295.
