Hotel El Convento, one of Old San Juan’s most popular landmark hotels, recently completed a multimillion-dollar design and architectural renovation to its 81 rooms. The renovation blends Old World charm with Puerto Rico’s vibrant and modern energy.
Led by interior designer Wanda Torress, who also oversaw the unveiling of Hotel El Convento’s adults-only sister property Palacio Provincal, the renovations see organic hues of cream, gray and terracotta incorporated throughout to complement the hotel’s original motif. Mahogany and tartufo wood form custom furniture sourced from Brazil. Warm, dimmable LED lighting adds a modern feel to the rooms, as well. Other updates include strategically placed convenience plugs for the ultimate comfort.
Hotel El Convento, once a Carmelite convent nearly 400 years ago, features a heated plunge pool and Jacuzzi, five meeting rooms and three on-site dining venues serving contemporary Puerto Rican cuisine. The property also boasts daily complimentary Manager’s Wine and Cheese Cocktail hour, El Convento Beach Club access and a 24-hour coffee and tea station.

May 31, 2023Homer and Janet by Homer Review
The Marais District, covering swaths of Paris’ 3rd and 4th arrondissments, has a distinctively gritty glamour that reveals it to be one of the city’s great incubators for new French food, fashion and lifestyle trends. It is here Moïse Sfez took on the challenge of creating street food establishments Homer in 2017 and Janet by Homer in 2022, doing it in such a way they both transcend the novelty of being regional American comfort food offered at stylized lunch counters matching up with New England lobster shacks and New York delis. Overwhelming local response and Sfez winning the 2018 Lobster Roll World’s Championship title in Portland, Maine, solidified him as a Paris restaurateur and one of France’s hottest culinary stars.
