Nothing turns the winter doldrums into winter magic faster than a stay in a private Swiss chalet. Augmenting the luxury offerings in the iconic Swiss alpine town of Gstaad, Ultima Collection introduced Ultima Promenade Gstaad. This sumptuousness chalet, positioned along the city’s historic promenade, was originally built as a private getaway for Prince Karim Aga Khan IV.

Sleeping up to 20 guests, it features a spacious living room with wraparound balconies and an open fire. Along with a breathtaking dining room with soaring ceilings, spaces include a private cinema, cigar lounge, game room and private disco. Spread across four floors, the chalet has eight magnificent bedroom suites and a children’s dormitory.

Better still, there’s an entire floor devoted to wellness pursuits. Guests can retreat to the sauna, whirlpool, hammam, cool pool, snow shower or massage room. There’s a fitness gym and indoor pool, making workouts inviting regardless of the temperatures outside. A staff of wellness experts from Ultima Collection can coordinate personal training sessions, curated wellness programs, and signature spa treatments featuring product lines from Seed to Skin Tuscany and Augustinus Bader.

Throughout the property, lush materials have been sourced, including cashmere and silk textiles, hand-finished designer fabrics, bespoke Italian furnishings, teak, marble and bronze. To personalize the space, Ultima Collection has partnered with Artion Galleries to furnish the chalet with artwork tailored specifically to each guest’s tastes ahead of their arrival.

Ultima Promenade Gstaad comes with a dedicated house manager, massage therapist, a private chef, butlers and chauffeur. Guests can stroll next door to enjoy dining at Ultima Hotel Gstaad, where the first Zuma pop-up restaurant in Switzerland has opened for the winter season. Enjoy menu items such as spicy beef tenderloin with sesame, red chili and sweet soy, or an array of fresh sashimi from the in-room dining menu. Prefer to stay in? Indulge in a curated gastronomy experience whipped up by a private Zuma chef while you relax in your chalet.

SkyBeach Resort Review

If you drive by SkyBeach Resort on the southern tip of St. Petersburg, Florida, you might glance over and write it off as a typical “Old Florida” two-story hotel. But park and venture inside and you’ll find a resort with a host of amenities, chief among them a private beach overlooking Tampa Bay and Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Sail Away

Please enjoy the Wave Issue, our cruising special for the first half of 2026. Cruising is booming, and travelers cannot get enough of it. I just returned from a fantastic trip on Regent Seven Seas Mariner with a group of Globility Board members and other Global Traveler subscribers. We departed from İstanbul and made our way through the Dardanelles Strait, connecting the Sea of Marmara to the Aegean. From there we entered the Mediterranean. The ship made interesting stops in Greece, Montenegro and Croatia before docking in Trieste. Please read my GT Tested review of Seven Seas Mariner in this issue.
