The Belgian multidisciplinary group called BESIX has reached a major milestone in the construction of the Tour Triangle skyscraper in Paris, France. The company finished the last concrete pour on the 420th floor, marking the end of the 3.5-year project.

The project has transformed a narrow site into a new high-rise that will stand 590 feet. Plans call for the building to include offices, shops, a three-story Radisson Blu hotel, medical center, daycare services, a conference center, cultural spaces, and an observation deck with restaurant facilities.

The shape of the building is intended to minimize shadows on nearby buildings, preserve open sky views, reduce wind loads and improve structural efficiency. The all-glass façade is engineered to filter sunlight, balance natural daylight with energy efficiency, and reduce heat loss.

Located in the 15th arrondissement at Place de la Porte de Versailles, the tower is part of the renovation of the Parc des Expositions trade-fair hub Architectural Record. It is positioned to connect Greater Paris with the historic city center.

Tour Triangle incorporates photovoltaic panels on its south-facing side, and 773,000 square feet  of green space integrated into the site.

The 42-story pyramidal glass skyscraper and would be the first high-rise tower to be constructed within the boundaries of Boulevard Périphérique, the ring road encircling central Paris, since the Tour Montparnasse building.

Tour Triangle’s height will make it the third-tallest building in Paris city limits, behind the 690-foot-tall Tour Montparnasse and 1,063-foot-tall Eiffel Tower. The new skyscraper has been at the center of the controversy regarding tall buildings within the city, and its trapezoidal form has also garnered unfavorable reactions. Agence France-Presse noted that, while comparisons to I.M. Pei’s Louvre Pyramid are inevitable, the planned tower’s resemblance to “a giant elongated wedge of Toblerone chocolate” might be more appropriate.

It is expected the building will be completed at the end of 2026.
