Ovolo Hotels announced on World Vegetarian Day (Oct. 1) that all of the designer hotel giant’s restaurants and bars in Hong Kong and Australia will become vegetarian for the next year. The move is part of Ovolo’s The Year of the Veg initiative.
Australian Ovolo Hotel bars and restaurants going all-out vegetarian include Monster Kitchen & Bar at Ovolo Nishi in Canberra; ZA ZA TA at Ovolo The Valley in Brisbane; and Mister Percy at Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour in Sydney.
In Hong Kong, Ovolo’s vegetarian moves began with Veda at Ovolo Central — the first vegetarian hotel restaurant in the region. Komune at Ovolo Southside will also cut meat from its menus for the year.
“Dining out and enjoying tasty food and wine with great company is one of life’s simplest pleasures. Good times and good intentions are how we’re evolving. We want to be conscious about what we are consuming and practice environmental sustainability as best as we can, as this leads to a larger impact on humanity, not just the environment,” said Girish Jhunjhnuwala, founder and CEO, Ovolo.
The all-vegetarian year is part of Ovolo Hotel’s mission to reduce its carbon footprint and environmental impact, along with the many other sustainable changes found here.
