No. 10 Restaurant Review

Step into No. 10 at the right time, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a boisterous dinner party in Rome or Milan. The feeling transcends sleek furniture, modern lighting fixtures and an astute Italian staff. On Fridays, the space comes alive after 9 p.m. with date night couples, extended families with kids and business groups. A good number of those guests speak Italian.

While the heavily Italian-from-Italy patronage speaks volumes, No. 10 is authentically Italian where it counts. Pastas are perfectly al dente, from seasonally dressed ravioli, linguini and tortelloni dishes to the permanent paccheri dish topped with impeccably sautéed, garlicky Maine lobster. Light bites, such as the crudo appetizer, refresh the palate while substantial dishes like the for-two rib-eye are prepared with perfect restraint, allowing the natural flavor of the simple ingredients to shine through. Cocktails, save for the N10, an exquisite vodka-based espresso martini, are light, fruity and only slightly sweet. The Chanel and the Gatsby are particularly perfect foils for the rich dishes coming out of the kitchen.

No. 10 hit the ground running last year with early buzz from the presence of FIFA legend Alessandro Del Piero as one of the owners. However, getting and maintaining this vivaciousness is no small feat. At its location, where West Hollywood almost meets Beverly Hills, competition is keen, with many good Italian restaurants that have served the neighborhood for years. Here’s hoping this spot goes the distance and scores the ultimate goal of evolving into a neighborhood fixture.
