I stayed at NH Collection Prague Carlo IV during a recent visit to Prague, Czech Republic. Located in the heart of Prague, the property is about a 30-minute drive from Václav Havel Airport Prague and a short walk to popular attractions in the center of the city. After a long day of travel, pulling up to the stunning Neo-Renaissance palace was a welcome sight. The building was originally built as a bank in the 1890s — the former bank vault is now a bar. The property underwent a major design update in 2022, blending historic and contemporary elements.

The guestrooms and suites in the modern section of the hotel feature a contemporary design, while the historical building features high ceilings and 19th-century décor. There are a total of 152 guestrooms and suites at the property. My guestroom on the second floor of the historic building faced Senovážné Square. The room featured a king bed with a variety of pillows, a plush headboard, a desk with several conveniently located outlets, chair, bench, large television, a variety of lighting, nightstands and large hall closets with a safe and minibar. The bathroom décor included neutral-toned marble, a combined tub and shower, large mirror, bidet and bathrobes.

While I wasn’t able to utilize all of the property’s amenities during my three-night stay, I did enjoy the daily breakfast buffet at 1890 Restaurant, dinner at 1890 Restaurant, drinks at 1890 Bar and a spa treatment at Carlo IV Wellness & Spa.

My dinner at 1890 Restaurant on the first night of my stay was one of the best meals I had in Prague. My group and I enjoyed a special four-course menu: venison carpaccio with Parmesan and sea buckthorn, wild mushroom soup with 63-degree egg and lovage, fallow deer with truffled potato puree and chestnuts, and chocolate delice with mango and a dry ice presentation. The dishes were paired with outstanding Czech wines. It was a perfect beginning to my time in Prague and I returned to my room satiated and excited to explore the city the next day.

The property also boasts a fitness center, 65-foot-long heated pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room. There are six high-tech, convertible meeting rooms and a grand ballroom, all available for meetings and events for 16–220 guests. There is a dedicated courtyard and foyer entrance with a registration area for meetings and events. NH Collection Prague Carlo IV is a perfect property, whether your travels bring you to Prague for business, leisure or both.
