With the rooftop season already upon us, it is time to start thinking about visiting one of New York City’s resort-style oasis for cold summer cocktails and great city views.
The Dominick hotel on Spring Street in Manhattan’s SoHo district offers an assortment of resort-like amenities on its rooftop, Terrace on 7. This space includes an outdoor pool, pool-side spa treatments and exclusive cabanas that provide hotel guests and visitors with a truly relaxing environment. Visitors can pay for use of the spa and treatments, and food and drinks at rooftop El Ta’koy, but cannot use the swimming pool.

Now officially reopened for the season, Terrace on 7 is an indoor-outdoor luxury location complete with exclusive cabanas and sun loungers. The terrace features an outpost of the Asian-Hawaiian culinary concept called El Ta’koy, which serves up a variety of seafood- and vegetable-forward dishes alongside large-format (perfect for sharing) rum, tequila and mezcal cocktails. Terrace on 7’s outdoor space closes in September, right after Labor Day.
The exclusive and award-winning Sisley-Paris Spa, on the same floor as the rooftop, offers nine treatment rooms and three private spa suites with a balcony, including an exclusive menu of spa treatments. It is open year-round.

If the weather on the rooftop becomes wet, Dominick’s signature, Michelin-starred restaurant Vestry is led by Chef Shaun Hergatt with a seasonal and creative menu primarily focused on seafood and vegetables, often accented with Japanese flavors. Vestry offers indoor and outdoor seating.
The Dominick hotel offers 391 guestrooms in a 46-story hotel building with floor-to-ceiling windows and stunning views from guestrooms. An intimate yet dramatic two-story lobby combines rich and raw design elements offering contrast reflective of the SoHo’s neighborhood environment.

Feb 12, 2025La Samanna, A Belmond Hotel, St. Martin Review
I recently visited La Samanna, a Belmond Hotel, located on Baie Longue (Long Bay) on the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Although most of the resort is on the French side of St. Martin, a very small piece sits on the Dutch side, Sint-Maarten, making it possible to walk from France to Holland, and back again, by taking two steps. Of course, since most of the resort’s guests speak English, everyone working at the resort speaks English as well.

Feb 10, 2025Beaches, Parks and Family Attractions Make San Diego a Perennial Favorite
Of all the places in the world, San Diego still feels to me like the one that got away. With its warm ocean, outdoor lifestyle and chill attitude, there aren’t many reasons to leave once you’re there. Somehow, though, after college, I did leave, and so did my husband. Fast-forward a decade or so, after a blind date led to two boys, a house in the Los Angeles suburbs and a desire to share all the San Diego things with our teens during spring break.
