Swiss International Air Lines further expands its Air Rail offering by adding Grindelwald as a new destination. In collaboration with Swiss Federal Railways and Jungfrau Railways, international air travelers now reach the heart of the Bernese Alps easier. The new connection is now available, bringing the SWISS Air Rail network to 25 destinations.
“Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region represent what many international guests associate with Switzerland: breathtaking alpine landscapes, unspoiled nature, and authentic Swiss experiences,” said Heike Birlenbach, chief customer officer, SWISS. “The appeal is correspondingly strong – a large proportion of our guests come from abroad, particularly from the UK, the USA, and Asia. Our long-haul network connects directly here, bringing the world even closer to this region.”
Following the addition of Interlaken in December 2022, SWISS’s new offering in Grindelwald is made possible through a new partnership with Jungfrau Railways, which operates the rail connection between Interlaken and Grindelwald. Tickets for the new destination can be booked via swiss.com or at any travel agency.
“The Jungfrau region and the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe – rank among Switzerland’s most visited destinations. We are delighted that international guests can now travel even more comfortably, feel at home in this unique mountain landscape from the very start, and easily discover the highlights of the Jungfrau region,” said Remo Käser, head of Marketing & Sales, Jungfrau Railways.
Passengers traveling with SWISS Air Rail enjoy an exceptionally convenient journey: All necessary travel documents are issued directly by SWISS. When booking flights, travelers select their preferred railway station as the departure or arrival point, and the boarding pass is valid for the entire journey. The rail ticket can be used from the day before departure up to the day after arrival. For Grindelwald and all existing Air Rail destinations, SWISS provides a guaranteed connection in the event of delays.
