Eating Europe takes travelers outside the popular destination of Amsterdam to further explore Dutch cuisine in nearby Haarlem. The traditional market town is the Gastronomic Capital of the Netherlands.

The Eating Europe tour is nearly four hours and commences just 15 minutes from Amsterdam, starting March 22.

Guests enjoy seven authentic tastings, including stops at cheese shops, a church-turned-brewery and a venue on the market square overlooking the famous Bavo Church. Try Dutch staples like kibbeling (battered chunks of deep-fried fish), bitterballen (a meat-based finger food) and drop (licorice).

“We’re excited to offer our first tour outside of the Dutch capital, which gives guests the opportunity to experience the real Netherlands from a local’s perspective,” said Kenny Dunn, managing director, Eating Europe. “Haarlem has cobblestoned streets and gabled houses, tulip fields and windmills, brown cafés and breweries. But it also surprises by offering sushi with a Dutch twist, a mind-numbing selection of licorice and the culinary imprint from Indonesian immigration. We can’t wait to show all this and so much more!”

Tours are limited to 12 travelers, Thursday and Friday, 12–3:30 p.m.
