The Thompson Houston has big kitchen news: Sierra Rustrum has joined the property as executive chef, and will oversee and shape culinary endeavors property-wide — which includes contemporary global cuisine at Sol 7, modern Mexican at Toca Madera steakhouse and classic French fare at Chardon, along with the hotel’s poolside and in-room dining programs.
“I am incredibly honored to step into the role of Executive Chef at Thompson Houston,” said Rustrum. “It has been such a rewarding experience to grow alongside this property and team since the hotel’s beginning days. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue building on what we’ve created — pushing boundaries, celebrating the culture of food, and delivering memorable dining experiences for every guest.”
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu at Sol 7 features hot honey and fig and Stracciatella flatbreads; lobster Fra Diavolo; and a Harissa-roasted chicken served with preserved lemon couscous, grilled zucchini and mint yogurt sauce. Guests dining at Toca Madera can choose from a host of Mexican-inspired classics and steaks, along with seafood choices such as Mayan prawns prepared with chipotle mezcal butter, charred Fresno, cilantro lime rice and citrus cabbage. Texas-raised meats and fresh, locally sourced produce feature on the menu at Cardon, where the atmosphere evokes a Parisian bistro.
Located beside Buffalo Bayou Park in downtown Houston, Thompson Houston offers 172 light-filled guestrooms and suites, enhanced by floor-to-ceiling windows. Rooms feature modern marble bathrooms with deep soaking tubs, hardwood floors and brass fixtures. Green space has been created on the one-acre rooftop, adding to a sense of tranquility for guests enjoying the space’s bespoke infinity pool and deck.
An entire floor has been allocated to a spa and wellness space offering facials, massages and body treatments. Therapies include an Energizing Ginger Root & Lime Massage, and a Texas Starry Night Slumber Massage. Traveling for business? Thompson Houston has 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space that includes an 8,000-square-foot ballroom with a private terrace.
