There’s lots going on in Boise, including an impressive selection of new hotels. Stays at The Sparrow will immediately immerse you in a sense of place, thanks to engaging, infographic- style artwork in each of the 67 guestrooms. You’ll find a local coffeehouse in the lobby, a food truck on the outdoor patio overlooking Grove Street, and an outdoor fireplace inviting guests to linger and mingle. Authentic, local experiences include the Brewery of the Month program.

Also downtown, Avery Hotel + Brasserie is the city’s sole historic boutique hotel. Rooms feature a selection of Main Street Suites, Soaking Tub Suites and Balcony Suites. Guests can dine on classics at French-inspired Avery or indulge in upscale pub favorites at Tiner’s Alley Tavern. Michelin-starred Chef Cal Elliot is one of the founding partners behind the new hotel.

What to do while you’re in town? Go outside — this lovely city is tailor-made for those who love to hike, bike and wander.
“Boise is the ideal city for those who enjoy the outdoors. Our downtown is incredibly compact and walkable, with hundreds of trail miles easily accessible from downtown, including our renowned Greenbelt, plus the Boise River runs downtown, offering tubing, kayaking, and fishing. Plus, tons of outdoor dining and happy hour options,” said Carrie Westergard, executive director, Visit Boise. “No matter how one wants to enjoy the outdoors, we have options for them.”

In nearby Caldwell, Chef Salvador Alamilla — another James Beard Award 2024 semifinalist — steers the kitchen at Amano, where dishes are drawn from the Mexican diaspora and diners can embark upon masa and mezcal experiences.
