Hilton’s reputation has been built on its massive properties and dominating presence in nearly every corner of the world. But, as part of its new venture for 2019, Hilton will open its first micro-hotel under a separate brand.

Motto by Hilton is a new sub-brand of Hilton properties considered “urban micro-hotels” that will appeal to travelers seeking smaller, more efficient and affordable spaces to rest their head.

The smaller hotels will feature the bare bones in terms of amenities and space but will ensure guests only pay for what they absolutely need. Each property will have approximately 175 guestrooms, each with one of four different layouts. One such layout will include a Murphy bed that rests against the wall when not in use, and another features a lofted twin bed above a second bed, sleeping up to three people.

Motto properties will cater to groups by connecting up to 30 percent of its rooms and allowing guests to divide payments among various members and rooms.

The lobby and shared areas will pay homage to the local community by serving native food and drinks. At night, the daytime café will transform into a bar.

Hilton’s first Motto properties will open in Dallas, Dublin, Lima, London and New York, with plans to expand to other cities in the future.
