After six years of extensive renovations and closures, Monaco’s iconic Exotic Garden officially reopened to the public. This garden, perched above the Mediterranean, is one of Monaco’s most unique outdoor experiences, known for its sweeping views, cliffside setting, and rare collection of succulents and exotic plants from around the world.
The garden’s restoration involves stabilization of rock faces, redesigning pathways, and overall enhancements to improve accessibility and visitor experience. The renovated garden also introduces new amenities like a visitor area and refreshed spaces to bring a more modern, curated feel to the garden.

The Jardin Exotique first opened in 1933 and today features more than 1,000 species of plants represented mainly from Latin and North America, South and Central Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula. Each season unveils different treasures as plants bloom. Also in the garden is the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology.
Below the garden, visitors can access Grotte de l’Observatoire. Discovered in 1916, this natural cavity is accessible via a long staircase that winds through galleries adorned with limestone concretions. Guided tours are available to this cavern, which features stalactites, stalagmites and columns formed over thousands of years. Tours offer insight into the geological phenomena behind these formations. The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology features collections of relics found in the cave, revealing the presence of prehistoric humans on the site.
