Love Mid-Century Modern architecture? For the weekend of Nov. 11–13, you can indulge your passion in Sarasota, Fla., during SarasotaMOD. Presented jointly by the Sarasota Museum of Art (a division of Ringling College of Art and Design) and the Sarasota Architectural Foundation, the weekend will also pay tribute to renowned architect Victor Lundy. Along with a number of Lundy-themed presentations hosted by noted architects and historians, events include trolley tours of Lundy and Sarasota landmarks such as the Blue Pagoda Building, Herron House and St. Paul Lutheran Fellowship Hall. The tours will be led by Christopher Wilson, PhD, professor of architecture and design history at Ringling College, and Harold Bubil, real estate editor at the Herald-Tribune.

At Art Center Sarasota, a Lundy art exhibition features a selection of his early notebooks and sketches, along with watercolor paintings of his noted Blue Pagoda Building. The Blue Pagoda Building, currently housing the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, will also be the setting for a kick-off cocktail party. Visitors will have access to several private Mid-Century homes in the area designed by Sarasota School of Architecture celebrities including Paul Rudolph, Edward “Tim” Siebert and William Rupp. Weekend events will also include legacy presentations and film screenings at the Ringling College of Art and Design. Speakers will include Library of Congress architectural archives founder C. Ford Peatross and architect Donna Kacmar, author of a soon-to-be-released Lundy biography.
