New research from the Global Business Travel Association and American Express shows millennials are more likely to want to travel for business when compared to their baby boomer counterparts. The study revealed 45 percent of millennials want to travel for business, compared to only 26 percent of baby boomers.
When you compare the two groups’ travel habits, even more stark differences arise. Only 17 percent of baby boomers use social media to make plans with friends while traveling, compared to 46 percent of millennials. Baby boomers are also highly more likely to see no issue with using a personal credit card for business expenses, with only about half of millennials willing to wait for travel reimbursements. It also seems baby boomers much prefer free checked bags and quick security clearance, while one of the most important amenities to millennials is free WiFi.
“Millennials in particular are interested in business travel and see the value it brings to their companies and their careers. This generation may see more upsides to business travel because they’ve found new ways to stay connected to their personal and professional commitments while on the road,” says Susan Chapman-Hughes, senior vice president, American Express Global Corporate Payments.
In addition, there were some overall consistent findings among business travelers, regardless of age. Two in five business travelers desire airports with better non-stop flight options, and about two thirds dislike other passengers talking on their cellphones during flights.

Oct 7, 2026Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort
Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. By the time you reach Sooke, about 45 minutes from the provincial capital, city blocks have surrendered to forests, rocky shoreline, sheltered coves and long views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
