Lufthansa introduces a new way to keep track of your checked bags. The German airline will roll out digital bag tags that attach to luggage and keep track of precious belongings from check-in to baggage claim, and everywhere in between.

If luggage does not make it to the intended destination, Lufthansa’s service will send a text message to the passenger’s mobile phone with information about the issue. Rather than waiting in line at baggage claim only to learn the luggage did not make the trip, followed by a potentially long and arduous ordeal at the customer service desk, travelers will be able to know the whereabouts of their luggage and use the app to indicate where they would like their luggage to be delivered once it arrives.

In an effort to save travelers time and headaches, passengers with bags to check can print their bag tag at home and then drop bags at self-service kiosks at the airport instead of waiting in long lines at the check-in counter.

With electronic bag monitoring and the disappearance of the dreaded queues, Lufthansa is transforming travel into the enjoyable experience it should be. This convenient bag-drop service is available at Frankfurt Airport, Munich Airport and Düsseldorf Airport.
