Winter Nakasendō Trail: Snowy Post Towns and Mountain Paths (8 Days)

On this guided journey (departures in January, February and March), the legendary Nakasendō Trail and Kiso Valley are explored while walking and snowshoeing along paths once traveled by samurai warriors and feudal lords. Nights are spent in traditional country inns.

The Japan Alps Winter: Nagano and Gifu Adventure (6 Days)

This experience (departures January–March are recommended) takes in the Central Japan prefectures of Nagano and Gifu during a six-day, self-guided expedition. Here, the Japanese Alps soar into the winter sky, and guests can enjoy soaks in some of Japan’s most beloved hot springs. Days are spent exploring feudal castle towns, ancient temples and winter markets.

Winter Kumano Kodō Ancient Pilgrimage in Tranquility (6 Days)

The six-day Winter Kumano Kodō Ancient Pilgrimage in Tranquility journey (departures late December–February) offers the opportunity to walk along sacred forest paths recognized as UNESCO World Heritage trails, visit ancient shrines, and fall asleep in traditional minshuku guesthouses where soaking in onsen baths and enjoying home-cooked meals are part of the experience.

Hokkaidō Winter: Lake Akan to Shiretoko (7 Days)

The self-guided, seven-day Hokkaidō Winter: Lake Akan to Shiretoko adventure takes in the rugged landscapes of Japan’s northern frontier.
