Once the private summer villa of Barone Monti delle Corte, the 19th-century Villa Le Scale, surrounded by terraced gardens, numbers among the few historic villas remaining on Capri. Completely refurbished and restored with authentic details by artists and craftspeople, the villa celebrates its anniversary on May 1 with the opening of Ristorante Decimo. Featuring Southern Italian cuisine and a world-class wine list, the new dining venue and its charming garden cabana booths are exclusive to villa guests. Diners savor sunset views over the Gulf of Naples while sipping handcrafted grappa infused with fruits from the villa’s extensive gardens.
Antiques, WiFi, museum-caliber collection of art, modern gym and flat-screen televisions blend effortlessly with each of the villa’s seven guestrooms. Transfers in a late-model Mercedes or BMW sedan are available from both Naples Central Train Station and Capodichino International Airport (NAP) to the ferry port, where guests continue their journey to the island aboard a high-speed hydrofoil.
Staff can easily arrange on-island diversions including boating tours, excursions to explore the Blue Grotto and the historic ruins of Emperor Tiberius’ Palace. And there’s always time for shopping along Capri’s famed Via Camerelle.
