The new InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu opens in June, but, first, the brand concludes renovations on the former hospital, which operated for more than 800 years until 2010.
The building’s long, waterfront facade sports a Soufflot Dome, now transformed into the heart of the hotel. The private renovation required more than 800 craftsman and the result is 104 guestrooms and 35 suites, many with river views. The presidential suite is the largest in Lyon, the third-largest city in France, known for its cuisine and culture.
The hotel offers a bar and one restaurant, Le Dôme and Épona respectively, the latter named after a patron saint of travel. The restaurant serves classic Lyon gastronomy, including the signature local dumplings, quenelle.
Meeting and event space is also available, as is a spa and 24-hour fitness center with a Hamman, sauna, steam room and fitness classes.
The property is the sixth InterContinental hotel in France.
