After a recent KOA study rated camping as the safest form of travel during the pandemic, InsureMyTrip compared the latest data available for nine categories to rank the best and worst U.S. states for camping. The nine categories included elements like number of national parks, campsite quality, wildlife biodiversity, safety and average annual rainfall.
According to the InsureMyTrip study, the top 10 U.S. states for camping are:
- Rhode Island
- Utah
- Maryland
- New Hampshire
- New Mexico
- Minnesota
- Colorado
- South Carolina
- Texas
- Vermont
The worst 10 U.S. states for camping are:
- Wyoming
- Montana
- Nevada
- Indiana
- Idaho
- North Carolina
- California
- Hawai’i
- Tennessee
- Mississippi
