Marriott International Inc., with Redburn Development, announced the signing and groundbreaking of The Wick as part of the Tribute Portfolio, the company’s newest brand of exceptionally independent hotels around the world.
The building, built in the mid-19th century as a candle and soap manufacturing facility, will undergo a transformation before opening as a full-service boutique hotel later this year. The hotel will shine a light on Hudson, N.Y., for global travelers and local residents as it’s just two hours north of New York City and one block from an Amtrak station.
“Hudson has become a home away from home for those in the know, and is gaining momentum as a sought-after destination with its indie-spirit and vibrant social scene,” said Julius Robinson, vice president and global brand lead, Tribute Portfolio. “The Wick Hotel will be a perfect fit for the Tribute Portfolio brand, both reflecting this eclectic and energetic community and embodying what discerning travelers are seeking today: sincere service and spontaneous independent moments that bring a destination to life.”
The 55 guestrooms, which include seven suites, will draw upon the building’s heritage throughout the exterior and interior design with details evoking the spirit of Hudson, honoring its candle-making history. The Wick will feature an intimate and residential lobby bar and lounge, a conference/meeting room and a rooftop event space boasting breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley.
Gaining popularity as an idyllic and residential yet cultural getaway, the city of Hudson in upstate New York is known for its independently-owned shops. The charming city features dozens of art galleries, locally sourced food and a diverse range of restaurants. With a long range of history flourishing the art community, the urban gem of a city preserves its rich architecture in landmark buildings and the lively arts and dining scene.
Introducing the Tribute Portfolio brand to Hudson will provide travelers access to outstanding upper-upscale hotels while benefiting from the company’s loyalty programs.
