Daily

With European summer around the corner, The Dylan Amsterdam offers a new way to experience summer travel. Unscripted Summer is a seasonal approach to city travel, allowing travelers to slow down and experience city travel in a different rhythm, pace and openness. Rather than having the pressure to see more, Unscripted Summer invites them to move differently and allow Amsterdam to unfold on its own terms.

The new approach takes away some of the structure and rigidity of a typical city stay and replaces it with something lighter and more intentional. Moments are prepared and planned in advance to help remove distractions, while the rest is left up to travelers. The end result isn’t seeing less of the city but rather creating a way to experience it defined by pace, movement and freedom to linger.

Guests can expect the shift to start with The Dylan itself. The 41-room boutique hotel is located in Amsterdam’s canal district and dates back to the 17th century. Before guests arrive, the hotel learns what guests like to read and ensures its waiting in the room. This small gesture helps create a sense of familiarity in a foreign place. Upon arrival, guests are led through a gated passageway and into an enclosed courtyard, helping create an immediate separation from the rest of the city. The hotel provides a soft atmosphere with understated interiors, carefully insulated rooms and an enclosed garden for a sense of privacy that is rare in a central location.

Unscripted Summer can be experienced in three natural ways of moving through Amsterdam, each supported by the hotel:

On Foot

On foot, the experience begins with walking directions from the concierge, guiding travelers by local knowledge instead of major highlights. Travelers can expect stops at independent bookshops, long-standing cafés, small galleries and neighborhood streets with tons of character. This approach creates time to pause, step inside, speak with locals and discover places part of their daily lives.

On Bicycle

On bicycle, guests can travel further into the city, move as Amsterdam does and slip into the rhythm of the city and its people.

On the Water

On the water, canals carry the day along, and travelers experience the city from a quieter, more reflective angle.
