An hour north of Vancouver, British Columbia, via helicopter or seaplane, Fawn Bluff is a brand-new way to experience luxury in a wild setting. Guests at the lodge may glimpse black bears, otters, bald eagles or humpbacks and orcas in the Great Bear Rainforest and waters facing the property. Set on 340 acres between the Pacific and private Leask Lake, the property was founded by David Tuchbant, whose goal was to create a non-profit “hybrid hospitality project” with purpose and meaning.
“I was drawn to Fawn Bluff by the orcas, but I stayed for the people,” shared Tuchbant. “For me, Fawn Bluff is about rewriting what hospitality can mean. It’s not performance, but intuition; not consumption, but regeneration.”
Guests benefit from the cultural traditions of the Xwémalhkwu — Homalco First Nation — who are known as the “People of the Fast-Running Waters.” Those wishing to immerse themselves in this rich culture will have opportunities to participate in Homalco-led programs or activities offered by community members.
The property consists of the Main House, built of Douglas fir on a bluff, and the Lake Cabin. Five bedrooms can accommodate up to 10 adults and four children. The Lake Cabin along the shores of Leask Lake has a private dock for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking and paddleboarding, with room for four people.
Michelin-trained Chef Kwin offers foraging walks showcasing the kitchen’s local ingredients, such as wild salmon, bladderwrack seaweed, fresh prawns, huckleberries, thimbleberries, bearberries, Oregon grapes, Saskatoon berries and Alpine cranberries. Located at Bute Inlet between Tofino and Whistler, Fawn Bluff will be open June 1–Oct. 15, 2026. Lodge rentals include full buyout of the Main House and Lake Cabin, plus dedicated staff, guided activities, curated meals created by a private chef, and a selection of wines and spirits. Transfers and helicopter excursions are excluded.
