GETTING THERE & AROUND
Both John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport serve the metropolitan area. JFK operates both domestic and international flights and is one of the busiest commercial airports in North America. Rideshare services and the subway are available from JFK. LaGuardia Airport, which recently completed renovations, services routes to and from many U.S. destinations. This airport is not served directly by rail and heavily relies on MTA bus lines connecting with the city center. Mass transit runs 24/7 in the city, including its public bus fleet and subway system. Rideshares and the iconic yellow taxis are prolific in New York City.

High Line
Walk along this elevated park, greenway and rail trail, situated on the West Side. Created from a former New York Central Railroad spur, the High Line has transformed into a popular elevated park, complete with naturalized plantings and temporary art installations.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

Better known as the Met, this is the fourth-largest museum in the world and largest art museum in the Americas, displaying collections from across the entire world. Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a visit to the American Wing.

AMERICA’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY

On July 4, 48 tall ships representing 20 nations sail past 50 U.S. and allied naval vessels in the International Parade of Sail under Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. A series of events runs July 3–8. The New York Public Library will showcase rare historical artifacts, including Jefferson’s writing in the Declaration of Independence, through July 7. The Met offers various installations, events and performances through the end of 2026.
