Magnificent spring flowers are in full bloom in the Cederberg, Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat offers some of the best viewing opportunities. At the height of color through the end of September, the blossoms transform the plains into a multi-hued canvas.

Guests staying at Bushmans Kloof may opt for a half-day excursion to the Biedouw Valley, offered on a complimentary basis and included in the full board rate. The day begins with a nature drive through the reserve and all the way to the Top of the World reserve gate, then into the heart of the Biedouw Valley where thousands of flowers transform the plains into a multi-hued canvas. The well-timed stop at Eagle’s Nest on the reserve offers a magnificent lookout point on Boontjiesberg, and is the ideal spot for a gourmet picnic lunch courtesy of Executive Chef Floris Smith.

The Cederberg area forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage site that protects one of the richest plant areas in the world, and Bushmans Kloof plays a vital role in protecting the biodiversity of wildlife in the area as a sanctuary for more than 755 indigenous plant species.

Through Dec. 31, special rates for the three-night “spring flower spectacle” start at $75 per person per night sharing. The experience includes nature drives, guided rock art excursions, botanical walks, archery and mountain biking, and all meals (full English breakfast, à la carte light lunch, afternoon high tea and à la carte dinner).
