The first of the new aircraft with new cockpit functionality have been delivered in Asia.
Airbus recently delivered the first Airbus A350 XWB equipped with new touchscreen displays to China Eastern Airlines. So far, about 20 airlines opted for aircraft with the new technology, Airbus said.
The Airbus A350 XWB’s cockpit includes six screens. Three of those are touch-able in the new aircraft. The new control method complements the existing keyboards to give pilots more options when interfacing with the plane. It offers more flexibility and better interaction between pilots.
“Airbus continues to set the industry trends in aircraft cockpit design with these new interactive touchscreen displays in the A350 XWB. With our partner Thales we are very proud to bring this technology to our customers, to enhance their aircrews’ operations,” said Patrick Piedrafita, head, Airbus A350 XWB Programme.
