Eurostars Book Hotel Review

After a six-hour train ride from Berlin to Munich, we walked less than a quarter of a mile to the Eurostars Book Hotel. Inside, the lobby and small bar feel like a trendy club. The hotel’s theme is books. Passages and titles from well-known tomes are painted on the walls and ceilings throughout the property.

The hotel corridors are painted black with white wooden slats mounted to the walls. The lighting is good, and it’s easy to read the book titles while walking to your guestroom. Our sun-filled guestroom with white wooden flooring and white walls was saved from being too stark by a solid brown upholstered headboard. Our oversized room provided plenty of space for maneuvering a wheelchair and could easily fit a roll-away bed, if needed. The non-smoking room with air-conditioning offered a coffee/tea service, minibar, robe, LCD television and complimentary WiFi. The accessible bathroom was well designed with a shower seat and handrails, which folded out of the way when not needed.

Before beginning a full day of touring Munich, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast at the hotel. The self-serve buffet is popular with guests, dining on scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, deli meats, salmon, salad, cheeses, fruits, assorted breads, pretzels with Bavarian cream cheese or sweet mustard, cereals and yogurt. The restaurant’s long bank of windows looks out on the busy street. Complimentary newspapers are available in the alcove. While my husband read, I mapped out the 20-minute route to Munich’s art district.

We spent several hours viewing the Expressionist and Impressionist artwork at the Pinakothek de Moderne and Neue Pinakothek. In the afternoon, we passed stunning buildings and stopped to snap a few photos before strolling the 900-acre English garden. For dinner, we tapped our feet to live Bavarian music and ate Munich sauerbraten of Alpine ox at the Hofbräuhaus — a historic beer hall and restaurant seating 1,300 guests.

Exhausted from a busy day, we discovered an interesting book on our room’s bedside table. The collection of original short stories is a compilation of winning entries written by former hotel guests. We slept soundly at the modern Eurostars Book Hotel, which is conveniently located within walking distance to some of Munich’s most appealing attractions.
